In all fairness, we had started planning a wedding by casing a venue as well as a church. We had started looking at rings late summer of 2017. It shouldn’t been such a shock (but it indeed was). Family Day weekend 2018 I had plans to meet up with my girlfriend for dinner to catch up. Gibby asked if she would want to meet up with us afterwards, as he wanted to check out the Butterfly Conservatory in Cambridge Ontario. I had just finished telling him of taking a friend to the Niagara Falls and finding out her fear of butterflies. Regardless, he said he had heard about the place and wanted to check it out. Gibby was sort of quiet on the road trip up there. When asked if he was OK, he replied by saying he was great, just concentrating on the highways. We walked around the bug rooms as it was the petting zoo weekend. We made our way into the butterfly and bird room. It was gorgeous! On such a freezing cold day, it felt like a warm sunny day. After walking around the main room a couple of times, taking pictures and making comments of the many species of birds, plants and butterflies, we found a cozy little bench to rest on. Gibby mentioned it was beautiful inside, peaceful and romantic. I agreed and was just about to mention I couldn’t see how it could have been any better. The next thing I know, Gibran is down on one knee. He told me I was his life, his love and best friend. His life was complete with me in it. Oddly enough, the feeling was mutual. He then said that beautiful question… “Will you marry me?” It felt like time froze, and we were completely on our own. I belted out YES! We moved together to hug and kiss. There was an amazing amount of applause. One woman was kind enough to capture the moment on her cell phone and send me a picture. I should mention that Gibran also asked my Father about a month before if he would do him the honour of becoming his father in law. The ring is just as beautiful as the day it was proposed on. We did meet with my girlfriend for dinner to celebrate. It was just perfect! My fiancé and best friend, to be made my Maid of Honour that night 🙂
