Our love story began on October 15, 2016 at a mutual friends Halloween party. Although Deanna was not a fan of Halloween in great way, she made the friend promise her there were no clowns and scary stuff jumping out at her. Deal! The theme was anything, person or character from the 1970’s, and was later increased into the 80’s. Settling on the 1980’s arcade game Deanna was dressed up as Donkey Kong. Gibran came dressed up the original Gene Wilder rendition of Willy Wonka, complete with golden ticket and all.
The two of oddly enough knew where the other one was throughout the night. Peeking around poles was the best move on Gibran’s part. They seemed to keep finding ways to talk to each other. After the party (one week later), Liz came to church armed with Gibby’s cell phone number. There was no pressure at all. Two full weeks after that party Deanna sent Gibran a text message that read “Hi Gibran, it’s Deanna 🙂 how are you? “. They quickly found out, they had a similar sense of humour and enjoyed the lighter side of life including Disney movies and Harry Potter. Gibby started quoting the same lines Deanna would often spout off. He even quoted Fozzy Bear with his notable “Walka wakka wakka ” line. Deanna was impressed. In a nutshell, that’s how they met! 🙂 Gibran liked Deanna, and Deanna liked Gibran right from the get-go.
After a month and a bit of solid texting back and forth throughout the day - we never missed a day talking to one another. Most conversations caused outbursts of laughter!! We decided it was time to try a date…
